Russia: Poland risks attack because of US missiles
A top Russian general said Friday that Poland’s agreement to accept a U.S. missile interceptor base exposes the ex-communist nation to attack, possibly by nuclear weapons, the Interfax news agency reported. The statement by Gen. Anatoly Nogovitsyn is the strongest threat that Russia has issued against the plans to put missile defense elements in former Soviet satellite nations….
“Poland, by deploying (the system) is exposing itself to a strike — 100 percent,” Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of staff, was quoted as saying.
100%!!?? Is this REALLY a war warning? If so…see above note about 1939…
He added, in clear reference to the agreement, that Russia’s military doctrine sanctions the use of nuclear weapons “against the allies of countries having nuclear weapons if they in some way help them.” Nogovitsyn said that would include elements of strategic deterrence systems, he said, according to Interfax.
Yikes! Even the Foggy Bottom Boyus at the State Department wouldn’t be able to ignore an attack on Poland…whether or not we were actually ready to act…which we aren’t, at least not much more (psychologically if not militarily) than were Britain and France in 1939.
This leads to a REALLY ugly, bad conclusion… and the Chief at least can’t see a good ending if the
HOPEFULLY, Russia is beginning to realize it may have overstepped. Not so much as regards to the US, but even the squish EU is alarmed enough to start realizing that bad boys will pick on those they find weak. If the EU REALLY feels threatened, they know their only hope is the US backing them up.
As for the former Soviet Republics that have moved toward the West and domocratic ideals,, they’re determined NOT to cave in to Russian aggression as they’re memories of it are still fresh.
Russia has hopefully mistimed this invasion and there’s enough will left to back up our allies that we committed ourselves to through NATO. It’s encouraging that the EU has seemingly appeared to realize that the S**T has hit the fan and it’s time to get serious!
Bad timing for US (U.S.), yes, but the fact that the US appears to be prepared to elect someone as unprepared for the Presidency as the “Barackstar”does demonstrate that “happy talk” from the ObamaMessiah” only encourages the “Bad Boys” to flex their muscles as they prepare to steal our “lunch money”.
Bullies “smell” weakness, and salivate at the opportunity to exploit it.
If Obama wins this election, we’re going to get ROLLED by nasty folks that will play him for the fool he is.
