FLASH! Terrorist Org. Still…Terrorist

Hamas says still seeks Israel’s destruction

The Palestinian Islamist group Hamas rejected on Monday criticism by al Qaeda’s second-in-command and said it was still committed to Israel’s destruction despite a power-sharing deal with the Fatah faction.

“We will not betray promises we made to God to continue the path of Jihad and resistance until the liberation of Palestine, all of Palestine,” Hamas said in a statement, in a clear reference to Israel as well as to the occupied West Bank.

Why is this news? Ham-ass is…Ham-ass. Nobody except one of the State Department’s Foggy Bottom Boy wonks, or the moveon.org type moonbats could be under the delusion that Ham-ass will be anything other than what they are…a bunch of bloody-minded Islamofascist terrorists.

A Blow Against the Nanny State!

Rounds vetoes booster seat law

Gov. Mike Rounds vetoed a bill Wednesday that would have required some older children to be in booster seats while riding in vehicles. Rounds said the bill “proposes to criminalize the failure to place children between 5 and 8 weighing less than 80 pounds in a booster seat.”

He said compliance with the law might be nearly impossible in some instances. “Parents with large families and neighbors dropping children off at school come immediately to mind,” Rounds wrote. “I will not force South Dakota citizens to weigh their passengers before deciding whether to transport them to the movies. How can a law enforcement officer enforce this law? Are we going to provide scales to law enforcement to weigh each child before writing a warning ticket? Are we going to require children to carry identification or a birth certificate to prove their age?”

Good for the Gov!

Global Whatever

Global warming: the bogus religion of our age

This article is a direct response to a major paper that Blair’s Engsoc government spewed forth last fall. Dr. Lindzen (Meteorology, MIT) is NOT impressed with the efforts of Blairs well-trained lackeys who, after reaffirming The Gospel of Gore, went on to recommend (inevitably) ever increasing levels of taxation, regulations, and economic dictatorship in a report under the imprimitur of one Sir Nicholas Stern:

The world is heading for environmental catastrophe – or so we are constantly being told by the politicians and self-appointed experts. They warn us that unless we take drastic action, the earth will soon be devastated by climate change and global warming. Entire species will be lost, crops will be obliterated, floods and famine will sweep across the planet, and western economies will slide into depression.

Not only that—but the sky is falling!

‘The disaster is not set to happen in some science fiction future, but in our lifetimes,’ said Blair, who went on to claim that the ‘the world faces nothing more serious, more urgent and more demanding of its leadership than climate change.’ All this has helped put the Stern report at the very forefront of the debate. The central theme of it is that there is a near universal consensus of opinion within the scientific community about the dangers of climate change. But this is not true. There is no such unanimity among scientists.

Oooops! You mean, like, the Emperor Gore has no clothes?

The Chief particularly likes Lindzen’s wrap of all this:

Like a religion, environmentalism is suffused with hatred for the material world and again, like religion, it requires devotion rather than intellectual rigour from its adherents.

It is intolerant of dissent; those who question the message of doom are regarded as heretics, or ‘climate change deniers’, to use green parlance. And, just as in many religions, the route to personal salvation lies in the performance of superstitious rituals, such as changing a lightbulb or arranging for a tree to be planted after every plane journey.

Although no one ever expects it, can the Spanish Inquisition be far behind?

Spain Learns Result of Appeasing Islamoterrs: New Attacks Planned!

Spain fears Islamists reclaiming “al-Andalus”

Hmmm. Spain threw out a government in response to Islamofascist attacks in Madrid. The new gov’t then cut and run on its support for the war in Iraq – don’t you know – to help reconcile with the Dar al Islam. Did things improve: the Chief reports (well, repeats a report anyway) – you decide:

While the international spotlight is on 29 suspects on trial for the 2004 Madrid train bombings, Spanish police are working behind the scenes to counter a growing threat of new attacks. Radicals inspired by al-Qaeda have stepped up propaganda and recruitment activities in Spain, a country they claim as a part of the Islamic world because of its Muslim past, according to police experts.

After recounting more detail about the current legal and tactical situations, this piece shows how the Spanish assumption of the position to please Islamists has softened their approach – not:

Islamist websites have also long called for a reconquest of al-Andalus, a Moorish name for Spain, parts of which were ruled by
Muslims for nearly eight centuries until 1492.

So much for appeasement.

Oh yeah?

Mexican president promises to keep Mexicans at home

IF he follows up on this, it will be a welcome trend. One can believe as much of THIS as you want to.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon won’t be fighting for migration reform when he meets with President Bush next week. Instead, he will be be spelling out what he intends to do to keep Mexicans at home. Calderon, who was inaugurated on Dec. 1, has pledged to take 100 actions in his first 100 days in office, many of which represent the first steps toward “curing” Mexico’s long tradition of illegal migration to the U.S.

Time will tell.

Another Modest Proposal

George Carlin’s Solution to Save Gasoline

This was received via e-mail. I haven’t verified it at Snopes.com or anywhere else, and there is no specific citation listed with it…BUT…I really like the idea anyway:

Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use. The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants! That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down.

Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the border. When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq . Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military. Give him a soldier’s pay while he’s there and tax him on it. After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country. He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot.

This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves. If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo. Problem solved.

Criminalization of Politics

Libby Found Guilty in CIA Leak Trial

Once the closest adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby was convicted Tuesday of lying and obstructing a leak investigation that shook the top levels of the Bush administration.

Four guilty verdicts ended a seven-week CIA leak trial that focused new attention on the Bush administration’s much-criticized handling of intelligence reports about weapons of mass destruction in the run-up to the Iraq war.

The Donks HAD to get someone, anyone, convicted…of anything they could come up with. Scooter Libby was the victim of a set-up artificial situation, generated by Prosecutor Fitzgerald.

This represents the criminalization of political opposition to the liberal politico-media complex. This is perfectly rational to a certain type of ideological viewpoint, and the process is detailed thoroughly in Solzhenitsyn’s GULAG Archipelago.

It’s one more example of one of Claire Wolfe’s statements:

“AMERICA IS AT THAT AWKWARD STAGE. IT’S TOO LATE TO WORK WITHIN THE SYSTEM, BUT TOO EARLY TO START SHOOTING THE BASTARDS”

un-Truth and Consequences

Evil Fiction

Writer Orson Scott Card unloads on another book…that includes as the unquentioned context the whole of the Paleswinian gospel of anti-Israel propaganda.

The Chief has to concur with his analyses:

Let me tell you about an audiobook that I hated. I didn’t hate it because it was badly written — it was mediocre in the way that mediocre thrillers usually are, and that means it would ordinarily have been tolerable. No, the reason I stopped listening to Steve Berry’s The Alexandria Link is that this book is evil.

I don’t mean it’s about evil. I don’t even mean that it is evil-porn, like those horror books whose authors are pervertedly devoted to thinking up cool ways to torture and kill people.

I mean that this book, to the degree that it is read by people ignorant of history (i.e., practically everybody), will move us closer to a future in which our society permits or even approves of the murder of Jews and the destruction of the state of Israel.

Check out the specifics in the article.

Berry and his ilk have chosen to support lies that justify the murder of Jews — no, wait, the bigots call them “Zionists” now, don’t they, the way segregationists said “nigra” so they didn’t use the actual N-word — but at the same time, in a moral contortion that deserves to be in a sideshow, they still claim the mantle of “tolerance” and consider their enemies to be the neanderthal bigots.

Guess what, kids: You’re in bed with Adolph Hitler and with the bombers of innocent people in Palestine. You are attacking people who are no more deserving of attack than, say, Americans who live in rich communities on the coast of Georgia (where Berry lives), on land stolen from Indians and long worked by the labor of black slaves.

This book has to be prime grist for Hollywood’s mill. (Hopefully not…but probably so!)

Martian Global Warming

Mars Melt Hints at Solar, Not Human, Cause for Warming, Scientist Says

Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars suggests that our planet’s recent climate changes have a natural-and not a human- induced-cause, according to one scientist’s controversial theory.

This can only be controversial if your research grant “rice bowl” is being threatened by naturally induced climate change.

But wait! Couldn’t it be human caused on Mars also? What about all those Edgar Rice Burroughs’ books about John Carter of Mars? (Just wait until Algor gets reminded about that!)

Trust the ChiComs – to be ChiComs!

Cooking The Books In Beijing

Something to think about:

China’s stock dive, triggered by news that communist leaders plan to recalibrate output, should serve as a reminder to U.S. investors that China still runs a command-and-control economy. And it’s anything but transparent. The West has no way to confirm the numbers the Beijing apparatchiks feed us, even as we hitch our fortunes closer to theirs.

Even more to think about:

U.S. state pensions are taking huge stakes in communist-run companies – including People’s Liberation Army fronts – even though they can’t trust their books. Financial transparency is a joke with Chinese stock listings. Investing in them is a huge risk, but one that state unions willingly take because they don’t want to miss out on the Great China Rush.

But it won’t be just the prospectors who get hurt in a crisis over there. Teachers and firefighters will be left holding the bag. Average Americans don’t realize it, but the People’s Republic of China holds a big part of their retirement security.

As we saw from this week’s sell-off, all of America may be overinvested in a monumental fraud.

The whole thing brings to mind a conversation the Chief had with a Vietnamese colleague, concerning something relating to the ChiComs. His comment about making a deal with them was essentially “How can you make a deal with them. They’re Communists. They lie.”

A Modest Proposal:

Front-loading primaries really bad idea

This is in the Aberdeen American News from South Dakota Politics‘ Ken Blanchard. Occasionally the Chief has reservations about some of his comments – but he hit the bull’s eye here, and has a very interesting idea to reduce some of the idiocy of the current Presidential electoral process.

First the kick-off:

One of my grad school professors described the simple rule by which his German grandfather approached child-rearing: Find out what the children are doing and make them stop. I sometimes think that rule should be applied vigorously to Congress and to state legislatures whenever they are in a mood to reform our political institutions.

Hear, hear!

This idea is great – probably too rational to ever be adopted, but its still neat to know that it’s there:

If you really want reform, the way to do it is divide the states into five groups, each including large and small states from every region of the country. Each group would be assigned the first Tuesday of some month from February to June. In subsequent elections the order would be rotated, so everyone gets to go first sooner or later. The purpose would not be to benefit one party or another, or any state over the others, but to do what is best for the Republic.

“…what is best for the Republic.” What a concept! Far too radical for the Congresscritters I fear.

NorK News

U.S., N. Korea to normalize ties

North Korea’s top nuclear negotiator was on his way to the United States yesterday for talks on issues that a State Department official said would include the first steps toward the normalization of diplomatic relations.

Normalization, eh?

Maybe diplomatic recognition might not be totally bad – but it would certainly give the NorKs an opportunity for more, dare it be said – espionage against us?

The problem here is the inevitable payment of “vigorish” to the NorKs to bribe them into faking an abandonment of their nuke projects. This is an exercise in futility…and based on their track record, how could any rational mind trust anything they had to say.

Hmmmm. Then again, this IS another example of the State Department’s Foggy Bottom Boys at work again…so never mind about the rational bit. At least it seems like the reaction may have brought a semi-flash of reality to at least part of this wildly optimistic plan:

N. Korea, U.S. talks ‘just a first step’

The State Department yesterday ruled out “immediate results” from U.S.-North Korea talks on establishing full diplomatic relations, which officials said will take place on Monday and Tuesday in New York.

Unfortunately, this silver lining has a dark cloud with it – the above-mentioned payment of assistance aid Danegeld.

U.S. intelligence officials, meanwhile, said the North has taken preliminary steps to shut down its main nuclear reactor, as required by a Feb. 13 agreement under which it would scrap its atomic programs in exchange for about $300 million in aid.

As noted in a previous post – the US is getting rolled again.

Rotten US Prosecution, Prosecutor in Border Case

Official: Mexican Drug Runner Shot by Border Agents Smuggled More Drugs Into U.S.

This is just WRONG!

The Mexican drug runner whose testimony sent two Border Patrol agents to prison for shooting him in the buttocks brought drugs into the United States more than once, thereby diminishing his credibility as a witness in the investigation, according to a California congressman.

That is bad enough, but unfortunately it gets even worse:

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., presented new evidence in a Capitol Hill press conference Wednesday that revealed what he says was U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton’s deliberate attempt to mislead the public about Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila’s involvement in the transport of a second load of drugs in October 2005.

Sounds like Sutton is another version of (NC Drake “Rape”) Prosecutor Nifong, with a concern for racking up convictions with no regard for either truth or justice. These guys need to do hard time themselves. What a travesty!

Comes the Comrade in Seattle School.

L’Eggo My Lego

This is bizarre – it sounds like something from the Soviet Union.

According to the article, the students had been building an elaborate “Legotown,” but it was accidentally demolished. The teachers decided its destruction was an opportunity to explore “the inequities of private ownership.” According to the teachers, “Our intention was to promote a contrasting set of values: collectivity, collaboration, resource-sharing, and full democratic participation.”

IT’s even worse in detail than that! This is nearly physically sickening! Of course, it IS Seattle, which has taken a niche of being a de-facto northern version of San Francisco.

Traitor at Kent State

Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard

This piece from Townhall describes what is described as openly traitorous writings by a Kent State Islamofascist professor. Having gone and personally examined his website of dubious ancestry, the Chief’s personal evaluation is that, yes, indeed, this qualifies as sedition and direct treason at the cost of Ohio’s taxe$ that pay this scumbag’s salary.

It’s really sort of breathtaking to see this sort of stuff…worth taking a look in the interest of knowing the enemy.

Rope. Professor. Tree. Some assembly required.

Queen Bitch of the House

Speaker’s Schemes

This first paragraph says it all!

Nancy Pelosi has decided the next best thing to leaving Iraq is for Democrats to micromanage our forces there. As her broken promises on reforming Congress proved, the speaker cannot be trusted.

So this is a shocker? Not to the Chief, considering the subject, and apparently not to the writer either:

Low chicanery has come to be expected from the new speaker. As Washington’s Politico Web site noted this week, Pelosi’s promises of congressional reform have become a joke less than eight weeks into the 110th Congress. Her much-touted “five-day workweek” has happened once so far, Republicans have only one time been allowed to vote on a measure of their own, and her “100 hours” agenda took two weeks to complete.

Moreover, what Pelosi pledged would be “the most ethical Congress in history” has Rep. William Jefferson, found last year with $90,000 in alleged bribes hidden in his freezer, sitting on the House Homeland Security Committee, courtesy of the speaker.

AF3.jpg

When Bush solemnly swore to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, little did he know that one of those domestic enemies would be armed with a gavel.

Unfortunately, she’s not just an enemy of the President…we’re all at risk here.

Blows Against the (Sioux) Empire

Feds reject railroad loan

The Federal Railroad Administration said Monday that it denied a $2.3 billion loan request by the Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad Co., which has tried for some 10 years to finance a third rail line into Wyoming’s prolific Powder River Basin coal mining district.

This is NOT good for the development of South Dakota’s economy and its infrastructure. Score points for the luddites amongst us. The Chief has to hope that the DM & E can figure out another way to leverage the project.

Daschle: DM&E made ‘strategic mistakes’

Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle said today he thinks the Dakota Minnesota & Eastern Railroad made strategic mistakes and could have worked better with communities in the region. “I think the DM&E may have made some strategic mistakes with regard to their planning and their approach,” Daschle said, “but they have indicated that perhaps there are other ways to come back with another business plan and I’m sure they’ll attempt to do that.”

It’s worth noting that Daschle was appointed to the Board of Minnesota’s Mayo Clinic who vociferously opposed the project as an undue trespass on their private fiefdom in Rochester. He also was involved with their hiring former SD Governator and Congresscritter Janklow into their fold.

Thi$, after both Daschle and Janklow unre$ervedly $upported the D M & E project when they were in office in $outh Dakota. Well, now they are not in $outh Dakota office, and $o much for any $ense of re$idual loyalty to the voter$ of $outh Dakota who elected them repeatedly over the year$. I $uppo$e that no one $hould reali$tically expect anything el$e from the$e paragon$ of public $ervice – they are member$ of the legalocratic mercenary cla$$ after all, and demon$trably have $hifted their loyalty to the $ervice of other$ who were willing to pay for the be$t lawyer$ (and connection$) that their money could buy.

Asked what mistakes he was referring to, Daschle said “not working as effectively with local communities as they probably should have.”

How could they have “worked more effectively with local communities”? Presumably by hiring Daschle and Janklow to work for them.

Islamofascists Target Cyberworld

Cyberspace as a Combat Zone: The Phenomenon of Electronic Jihad

Alongside military jihad, which has been gaining momentum and extracting an ever growing price from many countries around the globe, Islamists have been developing a new form of warfare, termed “electronic jihad,” which is waged on the Internet. This new form of jihad was launched in recent years and is still in its early stages of development. However, as this paper will show, Islamists are fully aware of its destructive potential, and persistently strive to realize this potential.

MEMRI does a great job of raking the muck generated by the Islamofascists, and has put together a piece on the efforts of the crescent moon-god worshipers to go after cyberspace. Fortunately, they haven’t quite hit prime time with these efforts, but the situation bears watching.

This is a pretty good intro level piece…check it out.

Iran War Ramping Up?

One way or another, this looks more and more like a “go”.

American armada prepares to take on Iran

Recent tensions between America and Iran over Teheran’s attempts to develop a nuclear weapon have raised the prospect of its third regional war in a decade.

The addition of a second aircraft carrier to its strike groups has fuelled the belief that America is gearing up for a fight with Iran. Not since the Iraq war in 2003 has America amassed so much fire power around the Gulf. As flagship of the Fifth Fleet, the Eisenhower welcomed the arrival of a second Nimitz class nuclear powered aircraft carrier, the USS John C. Stennis, and its accompanying destroyers on Tuesday.

That’s a LOT of warplanes ready to rock and roll! But wait…there’s still more:

Israel seeks all clear for Iran air strike

Israel is negotiating with the United States for permission to fly over Iraq as part of a plan to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Daily Telegraph can reveal.

To conduct surgical air strikes against Iran’s nuclear programme, Israeli war planes would need to fly across Iraq. But to do so the Israeli military authorities in Tel Aviv need permission from the Pentagon.

Meanwhile, back in Tehran, the Ayatollah’s regime is trying to erase the bull’s eye they painted on themselves….a bit late.

Iran urges talks on nukes, not war

The Iranian foreign minister said yesterday the United States was in no position for another war…

He wishes! This has more of an effect by giving a convenient talking point to the LibDonk moonbats in Congress.

…and maintained that negotiations — not threats — were the only way to resolve the standoff over its nuclear activities.

Sure, they would rather talk than have their nuke program go up in smoke.

Attempts at Chemical Attacks in Iraq

Iraqi Militants Use Chlorine in 3 Bombings

A truck bomb that combined explosives with chlorine gas blew up in southern Baghdad on Wednesday, and officials said it may represent a new and deadly tactic by insurgents against Iraqi civilians.

Hello? “…officials said it MAY represent a new and deadly tactic…”? DUH! If it’s already being done, which it is, then it DOES represent a new and deadly tactic. Call a spade a spade, guys!

The attacks seem to have been poorly executed, burning the chemical agent rather than dispersing it, but more sophisticated weapons involving chlorine could injure hundreds and cause mass panic.

If they keep going, they WILL get the bugs out.,.then one has to wonder hou long before they bring it over here. How truly wonderful! Meanwhile, the Washington establishment continues to fiddle while the unprotected borders continue to burn.

We’ve got a problem here.

Gallup Probes Muslims

Anti-American feelings soar among Muslims, study finds

This is an interesting poll in a number of respects, especially to an American conservative point of view.

Firstly, there’s a LOT of dislike out there, and it seems to be getting worse for the most part.

Seven per cent believe that the events of 9/11 were “completely justified”. In Saudi Arabia, 79 per cent had an “unfavourable view” of the US.

7% of the Islamic world is about 100M people – nothing to sneeze at.

It is also well worth noting that the standard liberal reasoning about the origins of radicalism in the cesspools of economic malaise are erroneous:

Gallup’s Centre for Muslim Studies in New York carried out surveys of 10,000 Muslims in ten predominantly Muslim countries. One finding was that the wealthier and better-educated the Muslim was, the more likely he was to be radicalised.

There are some areas of possible leverage that can provide a basis for real understanding:

The Gallup findings indicate that, in terms of spiritual values and the emphasis on the family and the future, Americans have more in common with Muslims than they do with their Western counterparts in Europe. A large number of Muslims supported the Western ideal of democratic government. Fifty per cent of radicals supported democracy, compared with 35 per cent of moderates.

What really struck the Chief, is that the Islamic radicals were driven to their opposition to the US for the same sort of “culture war” issues that drive US conservatives crazy:

Religion was found to have little to do with radicalisation or antipathy towards Western culture. Muslims were condemnatory of promiscuity and a sense of moral decay. What they admired most was liberty, its democratic system, technology and freedom of speech.

If this is accurate, the Chief has more in common with some of these people than he thought he did. Go figure.

Just Say “NO!” to Presidents’ Day

WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY!

This was a moment of enlightenment to the Chief:

In some circles, today is observed as “Presidents’ Day,” jointly recognizing Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, but it is still officially recognized as the anniversary of “Washington’s Birthday”….Matthew Spaulding, a Heritage Foundation scholar, reminds: “Although it was celebrated as early as 1778, and by the early 19th Century was second only to the Fourth of July as a patriotic holiday, Congress did not officially recognize Washington’s Birthday as a national holiday until 1870. The Monday Holiday Law in 1968-applied to executive branch departments and agencies by Richard Nixon’s Executive Order 11582 in 1971-moved the holiday from February 22 to the third Monday in February. Section 6103 of Title 5, United States Code, currently designates that legal federal holiday as ‘Washington’s Birthday.’ Contrary to popular opinion, no action by Congress or order by any President has changed ‘Washington’s Birthday’ to ‘Presidents’ Day’.”

Hey, that’s enough for me! How much do I REALLY think of George Washington? Enough to name my son after him, that’s all.

The Truth IS Out There Somewhere, but Not Here, or There Either!

Flat Earth Society

This was brought to the Chief’s attention by an e-mail correspondent, and is presented solely for discussion purposes. The Chief is unprepared to say whether these folks actually are serious, or not.

As a physics teacher, there is no problem with refuting this…but hey, not everyone is troubled by the presence of reason in their brains. For further evidence of this, one need only consider DonkCong Murtha’s views on the war based on his astounding lack to situational awareness (as noted in the previous posting).

Come to think of it, the Flat Earthers make more sense than Murtha’s quasi senile ramblings.

WaPo Slams Murtha Moves

Not the ‘Real Vote’

This is almost a “man bites dog” story when the Washington Post does a negative evaluation of Cong Murtha (Donk-PA) in his legislative dance around the Iraq war.

REP. JOHN MURTHA (D-Pa.) has a message for anyone who spent the week following the House of Representatives’ marathon debate on Iraq: You’ve been distracted by a sideshow. “We have to be careful that people don’t think this is the vote,” the 74-year-old congressman said of the House’s 246-182 decision in favor of a resolution disapproving of President Bush’s troop surge. “The real vote will come on the legislation we’re putting together.” That would be Mr. Murtha’s plan to “stop the surge” and “force a redeployment” of U.S. forces from Iraq while ducking the responsibility that should come with such a radical step.

So much for the set-up.

Mr. Murtha has a different idea. He would stop the surge by crudely hamstringing the ability of military commanders to deploy troops….His aim, he made clear, is not to improve readiness but to “stop the surge.” So why not straightforwardly strip the money out of the appropriations bill — an action Congress is clearly empowered to take — rather than try to micromanage the Army in a way that may be unconstitutional? Because, Mr. Murtha said, it will deflect accusations that he is trying to do what he is trying to do. “What we are saying will be very hard to find fault with,” he said.

All this comes with demonstrable evidence that Mutha Murtha doesn’t know his posterior waste orifice from the proverbial hole in the ground, apparently a bit much even for the liberal esthetic of the WaPo:

Mr. Murtha’s cynicism is matched by an alarming ignorance about conditions in Iraq. He continues to insist that Iraq “would be more stable with us out of there,” in spite of the consensus of U.S. intelligence agencies that early withdrawal would produce “massive civilian casualties.” He says he wants to force the administration to “bulldoze” the Abu Ghraib prison, even though it was emptied of prisoners and turned over to the Iraqi government last year. He wants to “get our troops out of the Green Zone” because “they are living in Saddam Hussein’s palace”; could he be unaware that the zone’s primary occupants are the Iraqi government and the U.S. Embassy?

Of course their real concern here is that Murtha’s (and Pelosi’s) attitudes will (shudder) harm the position of the Donk party:

It would be nice to believe that Mr. Murtha does not represent the mainstream of the Democratic Party or the thinking of its leadership. Yet when asked about Mr. Murtha’s remarks Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) offered her support. Does Ms. Pelosi really believe that the debate she orchestrated this week was not “the real vote”? If the answer is yes, she is maneuvering her party in a way that can only do it harm.

Let it be so!

ChiCom Acts of (Cyber) War

Chinese Hack Attacks on DoD Networks Coordinated

The Naval Network Warfare Command says that Chinese hackers are relentlessly targeting Defense Department networks with cyber attacks. The ‘volume, proficiency and sophistication’ of the attacks supports the theory that the attacks are government supported. The motives of the attacks emanating from China include technology theft, intelligence gathering, exfiltration, research on DOD operations and the creation of dormant presences in DOD network for future action. Onlookers warn that current US defenses against these attacks are ‘dysfunctional’, and that more aggressive measures should be taken to ensure government network safety.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck…you know the rest.

Copperheads Pass Protest Resolution

House OKs Measure Opposing Troop Surge

The Democratic-controlled House issued a symbolic rejection of President Bush’s decision to deploy more troops to Iraq on Friday, opening an epic confrontation between Congress and commander in chief over an unpopular war that has taken the lives of more than 3,100 U.S. troops.

DEFEATISTCOMM1.jpg

The Donk-RINO Copperhead coalition is in charge…if they could figure out a way to totally cut and run…that’s what they would be doing.

Can you say “…aid and comfort to the enemy.”? This is it!

Queen Ann Sounds Off on Obama Sounding Off

JONATHAN LIVINGSTON OBAMA

Ann Coulter has a lot to say about not much – the “not much” being the meaningful content of the Senatorial personage B. Hussein Obama’s declaration of official Presidential candidacy. The kernal of her invective has aptly been stated in the piece:

This guy’s like the ANWR of trite political aphorisms. There’s no telling exactly how many he’s sitting on, but it could be in the billions.

The Chief is moved to paraphrase Mark Twain’s evaluation of the music of Richard Wagner: “Don’t worry. It’s not really as bad as it sounds.”

Will to Live Asserts Itself in Israel

Israel ready ‘to confront Iran alone’

The old expression about nothing serving to focus one’s mind so much as the prospect of being hanged comes to mind with this.

Israel alone will have to confront the perceived nuclear threat from arch enemy Iran, the country’s ultra-rightwing Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman said today.

“We will have to face the Iranians alone, because Israel cannot remain with its arms folded, waiting patiently for Iran to develop non-conventional weapons,” he told public radio when asked about a possible Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear installations.

At least everyone over there hasn’t had their brains anesthetized by political correctness.

Bush Rope-a-doped by NorKs

Korean Nuclear Deal Delays Disarmament

A hard-won disarmament pact that the U.S. and four other nations struck with North Korea on Tuesday requires the communist nation to halt its nuclear programs in exchange for oil while leaving the ultimate abandonment of those weapons projects to a potentially trouble-filled future.

In a sign of potential problems to come, North Korea’s state news agency said the country was receiving 1 million tons of oil for a “temporary suspension” of its nuclear facilities – and failed to mention the full disarmament for which the agreement calls.

Good grief! The President has taken on the role of Charlie Brown trying to kick the football that keeps getting snatched back at the last moment by Lucy.

What form of dementia convinces the President, the State Department Foggy Bottom Boys, or anyone else that the NorKs have ANY credibility for ANYTHING at all?
